Changes to bus services serving Cuckfield, starting 3 September 2018 - in bold below.

The following bus services operate through Cuckfield:

  • Route 33 - Compass Travel.  This service will cease to operate between Haywards Heath, Cuckfield, Balcombe and Crawley.  It will revert to just Haywards Heath-Hurstpierpoint.

  • Route 89 - Compass Travel, Horsham to Haywards Heath via Cuckfield (no change expected).  
  • Route 271 - Metrobus, Crawley to Brighton, Royal Sussex County Hospital via Handcross, Cuckfield, Haywards Heath and Burgess Hill (no change expected).

  • Route 31 - Compass Travel is a new route starting on 3 September, Uckfield-Haywards Heath-Cuckfield.  Between Cuckfield and Haywards Heath, buses will operate alternately around a loop.  The general picture during weekdays is:

Route 31 bus will pick up in Broad Street by the car park at 32 minutes past the even hours, and run via Hanlye Lane and Penlands Farm to Sainsburys, South Road, PRH and Uckfield.

Route 31 bus will pick up in High Street near the Corner House at 36 minutes past the odd hours, and run via Broad Street and Paddockhall Road to Sainsburys, South Road, PRH and Uckfield.

  • Route 62 - Compass Travel is introducing a new route which will not be very frequent, but details are not yet available.  It will operate Crawley-Balcombe-Cuckfield-Haywards Heath-Northlands Wood.

Compass Travel expects to have all its new timetables on the website by the end of the week, 25 August. 

In Haywards Heath, routes 30 and 39 will change from the same date.

All bus routes serve Princess Royal Hospital in Haywards Heath.


The nearest mainline station is at Haywards Heath, with Balcombe also nearby. These are both on the main London to Brighton line and are served by the following rail operators:

  • Southern
  • Thameslink
