Friday 6th

She Stoops to Concquer
After a horrible year for the entertainments industry, we will soon be able to make audiences smile again says \r\nJayne Meekings, producer of the professional Rain or Shine Theatre Company. The theatre industry has arguably \r\nbeen one of the most impacted sectors during the pandemic, with venues closed since March 2020. \r\nRain or Shine are at last set to delight family audiences once again this summer with our production of Oliver \r\nGoldsmith\'s classic comedy \"She Stoops to Conquer\", an 18th Century farce for all the family. Outdoor events are \r\nclearly safer than indoors so along with the vaccination rollout we are hoping that after 21st June we will be able \r\nto perform to audiences with fewer social distancing restrictions. \r\nA reserved lover, it is said, always makes a suspicious husband. In the play, Kate Hardcastle is a young lady fixed \r\nup to meet the eligible Marlow with a view to marriage. Marlow is a young gent who is tongue-tied with the upper \r\nclasses and downright lecherous with commoners. So when Marlow is tricked into believing Kate\'s ancestral home \r\nis a country inn, and mistakes Kate for a lowly barmaid what could possibly go wrong? Plenty! Set against the \r\nincreasingly chaotic proceedings of one very long night, \"She Stoops to Conquer\" is a delightful romantic romp \r\nfilled with ludicrous misunderstanding, mischief and mayhem. \r\nSo pack your picnic, rugs and chairs, pop open some bubbly and sit back and relax in the summer sunshine, while \r\nthey whisk you away to the time of big wigs, and even bigger dresses; where fops and foolery abound! \r\nSuitable for audiences from age 6 to 106, Rain or Shine aim to bring classical theatre into the heart of local \r\ncommunities as they travel across the country from late June until early September. The tour includes a \r\nperformance at Cuckfield Recreation Ground, Behind The Queens Hall, Cuckfield, Haywards Heath on Friday 6th \r\nAug. Picnics from 6pm. Performance at 7.30pm. \r\nTickets are available from 0330 660 0541 or Ticketsource. Audiences are requested to bring along low-backed \r\nseating or rugs, and a picnic to maximise their enjoyment of the al-fresco performances. Full details of the tour \r\nand venues can be found on the Rain or Shine website and tickets can be purchased from TicketSource via \r\nwww.rainorshine.uk, or by ringing 0330 660 0541

Time: 18:00 for picnics to 22:00
