Public Transport


Changes to bus services serving Cuckfield, starting 15 April 2019 – in bold below.

 The following bus services operate through Cuckfield:

  • Bus 89 – Compass Travel.  Operates Horsham-Cuckfield-Haywards Heath.  Journeys serving Warden Park School at school times continue unchanged.  In between those times, there will be only a couple of return journeys, and only on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.  There is one later return journey Mondays to Fridays, at 1630 from Horsham and 1730 from Princess Royal Hospital.  The 89 will not operate at all on Saturdays.

  • Bus 271 - Metrobus.  Operates Crawley-Handcross-Cuckfield-Haywards Heath-Burgess Hill to Brighton, Royal Sussex County Hospital.  No changes to this service are expected.

  • Route 31 - Compass Travel.  Operates Cuckfield-Haywards Heath-Uckfield.  From 15 April, buses towards Haywards Heath via Broad Street and Paddockhall Road will be numbered 31A.  They pick up in High Street near the Corner House generally at 36 minutes past the odd hours.  But not at 15.36 except in school holidays.

  • Buses towards Haywards Heath via Hanlye Lane and Penlands Farm will be numbered 31C.  They pick up in Broad Street by the car park generally at 32 minutes past the even hours.

  • Bus 62 - Compass Travel.  Operates Crawley-Balcombe-Cuckfield-Haywards Heath, but now will continue to Franklands Village instead of Northlands Wood.  Journeys to and from Warden Park School at school times continue unchanged.  In between those times, there is a very limited service to and from Balcombe and Crawley, only on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and the times have changed.

All bus routes serve Princess Royal Hospital in Haywards Heath.


The nearest mainline station is at Haywards Heath, with Balcombe also nearby. These are both on the main London to Brighton line and are served by the following rail operators:

  • Southern
  • Thameslink
