Neighbourhood Watch Bulletin – 17th October 2012


During the last month there have been a further four burglaries across the villages to the North West of Haywards Heath:

  • Rose Cottage Lane, Staplefield - property entered during the morning on 18/09/2012.
  • Glebe Road, Cuckfield - property entered during the day on 18/09/2012.
  • Smugglers End, Handcross - property entered during the evening on 10/10/2012
  • Barrowfield, Cuckfield - property entered during the evening on 13/10/2012.

In each of these burglaries the offender(s) have entered via the rear of the property and items taken were mainly jewelry and cash.

We have a dedicated team that has been set up to investigate these incidents and we are increasing our patrols in order to identify and apprehend those responsible.

Please continue to report any suspicious activity to us on 101 or if you think a crime is in progress, please dial 999.

We would also be interested to learn of any leaflets delivered, strange phone calls you may have received or perhaps unexpected visitors to your home address.

Other local crimes include:

  • A bike stolen from Goreside Lane, Cuckfield during the evening of 05/10/2012
  • A bike stolen from Pease Pottage Service Station on 03/10/2012 at about 4pm.
  • An outbuilding was entered in Handcross Road, Balcombe overnight on 18/09/2012. Garden machinery was stolen.
  • A garage was entered in Brighton Road, Pease Pottage on 22/09/2012. Items taken include a motorbike and garden machinery.
  • A shed in London Road, Cuckfield was broken into between 17/09/2012 -19/09/2012. A kango was stolen.
  • Number plates were stolen from a vehicle parked in Tilgate Forest Row, Pease Pottage
